Men's tennis suffers 8-1 loss to King's

ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. -- Alec Schneider and Nick Strobel scored an 8-4 victory at second doubles, but visiting King's (Pa.) got the better of Elizabethtown in the remaining matches for an 8-1 win at the Alumni Courts Thursday afternoon.

The Blue Jays conceded third doubles and sixth singles, limiting their margin for error.

Schneider and Strobel doubled up the Monarchs' (9-5) Terry Briggs and Ryan Kopishke and E-town's No. 1 pair of Ryan Caris and Tristan Boheim nearly gave the Blue Jays a lead heading to singles.

Caris and Boheim went in front 8-7, but couldn't come up with the clinching point, and the King's duo of Nathan Carl and Tyler Millan eventually claimed victory in the tiebreaker 9-8 (7).

King's posted straight set wins in four of the five contested singles matches. Strobel stole the second set off Austin Mackey at No. 3, but fell in a super tiebreaker 6-2, 3-6, 10-2.

The Blue Jays resume their Landmark schedule on Saturday at Drew.
