Hoesman earns Landmark WBB Senior Scholar Athlete

TOWSON, Md. -- For the first time since joining the Landmark Conference, the Elizabethtown College women's basketball team had ones of its members named the league's Women's Basketball Senior Scholar Athlete. Emma Hoesman was recognized as the honoree by the Landmark Conference, who announced the winter sports SSA recipients throughout the week.

Hoesman was a starter in all 25 games for the Blue Jays in 2016-17 and 2017-18. A primary ball handler for head coach Veronica Nolt, Hoesman set several new career marks as a senior. She averaged 5.5ppg, 4.4rpg, had 91 assists, 31 steals, and hit 43-of-50 free throws (86.0 percent), all career-highs.

Hoesman was tasked with guarding the opposition's top guard game-by-game and not once as a senior, or in her career, did she foul out of a contest. Hoesman's disruptive and tight guarding made it difficult for opposing guards and more often than not, she would hold them under their scoring average.

The Ellicott City, Md. native had five double-digit point performances during her senior campaign, including a season-high 16 at Cabrini on January 3, 2018. Hoesman hit all eight of her free throw attempts, also a season-high. She dished out a career-best nine assists for the Blue Jays in a win at Lebanon Valley on November 22, 2017. Hoesman also had a knack for rebounding. She hauled in a career-high 12 boards against Stockton in a home win over Christmas break.

Hoesman, an early childhood education major, has a cumulative GPA of 3.60, including a perfect 4.0 this past fall semester. She is a two-time honoree on the Landmark Conference Winter Academic Honor Roll with a third to come.
