ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. -- Elizabethtown fell behind 3-0 after doubles and could not recover, despite multiple hard-fought singles matches, in a 9-0 loss to FDU-Florham on Saturday.

The Blue Jays' No. 2 tandem of Ryan Caris and Tristan Boheim pushed FDU-Florham's Chris Fiorenza and Chris Ly before falling 8-6, but the Devils were otherwise in control of doubles, winning No. 1 8-0 and No. 3 8-2.

Max Moscowitz put the visitors on the brink of victory with his 6-2, 6-1 singles triumph over sophomore Connor Martin, but E-town (1-5) made the Devils work for the clinching point.

Tyler Spinello bounced back from a 6-0 loss in the first set to even his match against Ly with a 6-3 win in the second. Ly regained the upper hand in the third, closing out the match with a 6-1 set victory.

Caris and Boheim won their first sets at No. 2 and No. 4, respectively, but both matches went to the super tiebreaker where FDU-Florham's (6-1) Kevin Weller (No. 2) and Steven Serras (No. 4) emerged with victories.

Sophomores --but first-year team members-- Michael Ryzuk and Alec Schneider each made their home debuts for the Blue and Gray.

Ryzuk played third doubles and fifth singles, while Schneider slotted in at sixth singles. Ryzuk fell 6-3, 6-2 to the Devils' Tyler Schacher and Schneider fought hard in a 7-5, 6-3 loss to Fiorenza.

Elizabethtown returns to the court next Saturday at Moravian, when it opens Landmark Conference play.
