KANSAS CITY, Mo. --
Gilbert Waso has earned a spot on the United Soccer Coaches All-Mid-Atlantic Region First Team for the third time in four years.
Waso produced nine goals, 10 assists, 28 points and 73 shots --all team-highs-- in leading Elizabethtown College to its first Landmark Conference championship.
The senior forward was voted Landmark Player of the Year by the conference's coaches and finished with 23 points in his last 12 games. Waso became the 12th player in program history to eclipse 100 career points during a six-point night (two goals, two assists) against Penn State Berks on Oct. 10.
Waso, who originally hails from Congo, scored the game-tying goal in the 42nd minute as Elizabethtown advanced to the second round of the NCAA Championship tournament for the second time in three seasons with a 2-1 victory over Williams on Nov. 10. He also netted a goal in the Blue Jays' loss to nationally-ranked No. 6 Cortland in the Second Round.
Waso totaled 44 goals, 27 assists and 115 points in 76 career games for the Blue and Gray. He ranks tied for sixth in program history in goals and ninth in points.
A two-time All-America First Team pick, Waso gained his fourth career All-Mid-Atlantic Region selection. He received First Team accolades in 2015 and 2016, and was a Second Team selection last year.
