Blue Jays overpower Wilson

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. -- Elizabethtown hit over .300 for the sixth time this season in a commanding 3-0 sweep at Wilson College on Tuesday evening.

The Phoenix, inspired by their Senior Night, scored five of the first six points in the opening set on three Kristina Zuniga aces, a Leslie Farnes block and an E-town attacking error.

Once Elizabethtown found its footing, the match took a sharp turn in the Blue Jays' (17-15) favor.

With Wilson (7-11) up 12-8, the Blue Jays used two kills from Mackenzie Garner and one each by Kelli Garriott, Elle Shatto and Shelly Yohe to go in front for the first time.

Garner would add three more blocks and a kill as the Jays seized control late with a 10-2 run to end the set, 25-18.

Elizabethtown emerged from the second set with a 25-19 victory behind four kills from Garner and three apiece from Schneider and Marisa Krinock.

The Blue Jays had at least 14 kills in all three sets and attacked at better than .300 in the first and third to finish at .314 overall (47-14-105). They'd make quick work of the Phoenix in the third, 25-15, to sweep the match.

Freshman setter Rileigh Hudock assisted on 41 of E-town's 47 kills, moving to within 77 of 1,000 on the season.

Garner's 13 kills tied her for the match-high with Wilson's Tioleaoauli Posiulai. Schneider and Krinock collected eight kills each, Garriott had seven and Shatto six for the Blue and Gray.

Posiulai accounted for all but 10 of Wilson's kills. Libero Sierra Hill registered 14 digs, but the Phoenix only attacked at .094 for the match.

Elizabethtown concludes non-conference play on Thursday night at Ursinus.
