SCRANTON, Pa. -- The Elizabethtown College women's soccer team knew it would have to bring its A-game against defending champion Scranton on Saturday in a Landmark Conference battle. The result was a 3-0 win for the Royals, who beat the Blue Jays by the same score they used to knock E-town out of the conference playoffs in 2017. Three different players scored for Scranton in the game.
Scranton (12-0-1, 5-0 Landmark) had a pair of corners inside the first ten minutes of play, but nothing came from them.
Christine Fox made one of her career-high ten saves in the ninth minute on Erica Licari's attempt.
Steph Lowrey headed home her second of the season in the 19th minute for the Royals, who grabbed a 1-0 lead after Anna Donnelly's cross found Lowrey's head for the score.
Alli Lasky came back less than a minute later for Elizabethtown (4-7-2, 2-3 Landmark) and put a shot on Colleen Berry, but the Scranton keeper made the stop. Fox made another five saves over the course of the first half to keep it a 1-0 game by halftime.
The Royals made it 2-0 in the 49th minute on Annelise DePaulo's goal. She tapped in Mazie Stiles' cross to put SCR up by two. Scranton didn't let up as ten minutes later, Taylor Stevens scored as Lowrey provided the assist.
Lydia Lawson tested Berry in the 72nd minute as the Blue Jays tried to break up the shutout bid, but Berry came up with the save. The Royals didn't allow another shot to E-town the rest of the game.
Scranton finished with a plus-12 advantage in shots (22-10) and amassed ten corner kicks while Elizabethtown had a pair.
The women's soccer team will have the week off before hosting Goucher for Homecoming and Family Weekend on Saturday, October 20, at 4:30 p.m.
