Men's basketball dropped by Drew

MADISON, N.J. -- Bryce Greene had 18 points, but Elizabethtown simply couldn't keep pace with Drew's high octane offense in an 84-54 Landmark Conference road loss Wednesday night.

Greene nailed consecutive threes to open the game, giving the Blue Jays a quick 6-0 lead, but the conference-leading Rangers --the Landmark's only unbeaten team-- responded with a 20-3 run to take an 11-point lead by the 9:35 mark.

Behind 13 points from Dan Roibal and Riley Collins' nine, Drew (12-4, 5-0 Landmark) pushed its halftime lead to 18, 43-25.

Rangers leading scorer Yonathan Napoleon came in averaging nearly 20 points per game, but was held to two points on 1-of-4 shooting in the opening half. He would factor heavily into the second half, scoring 18 on 6-of-6 from the floor and 4-of-4 from 3-point range to lead all scorers with 20.

Elizabethtown (3-12, 0-5) fell behind by 20 less than two minutes into the second and would not be able to get closer than 17 the rest of the way.

Greene was the only Blue Jay in double figures, going 7-of-15 for 18 points. Josh Christ, a Pittstown, N.J., native that grew up just over 30 minutes from Drew, added a season-high nine points, four rebounds and three blocks. Michael Pastore and Brandon Berry each had eight points, but E-town shot just 34.4% (21-of-61) in the game. The Blue Jays played without starting forward and second-leading scorer Connor Moffatt (15.9 ppg).

Roibal scored all 13 of his points in the first half for the hosts. Nate Aldrich finished one point shy of a double-double with 11 rebounds and nine points. Collins also had nine points for Drew.

Elizabethtown is on the road again Saturday to take on Goucher at 2 p.m.
