ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. -- Not even the rain could dampen the hot start senior Emma Christman is off to for the Elizabethtown College field hockey team. Christman scored a goal in each half for the Blue Jays in a 2-0 win over Frostburg State on Wednesday.

Elizabethtown (2-1) spent most of the opening seven minutes on the Bobcats' side of the field. Christman and Emily Garvin put back-to-back shots on goal for the Jays, but Frostburg State (0-2) goalie Nicole Leighty stopped both chances.

Gabby Rachuba had FSU's first good scoring chance off a penalty corner, but her shot smacked into the left pad of Margo Donlin, who was bidding for a second straight shutout.

Brooke Zehr and Garvin were close to recording their first career goals heading into the 22nd minute of the first half, but Zehr's shot at goal was stopped by Leighty. Garvin's attempt was blocked off by a defender. Charity Good also had a chance saved by Leighty in the sequence for the Blue Jays.

After Olivia Beachley's shot was saved, Addie Stang followed up in the middle of the circle with a shot of her own that was blocked down. Her second shot was cleared off the line by Cara Morrell to keep it scoreless. Though, it wasn't for long.

29 seconds later, Good deflected a ball to Christman, who settled it down and scored left side to make it 1-0 E-town at 26:56, her second of the season and first of the game.

The Blue Jays took that 1-0 lead to halftime. Elizabethtown outshot Frostburg State 13-3 over the first 35 minutes.

The Blue and Gray took it to the Bobcats right away out of halftime. Megan Eppley had consecutive shots parried away by Leighty on penalty corners.

At 41:26, Christman's insert hopped over a stick and out of the circle. Madison Kubik chased down the ball, smacked it back in, right to Christman, who was left unmarked on the far side. Christman wasted no time and two-touched the ball into a wide-open cage to double the lead with her second of the contest and third of the season.

Frostburg had a chance to cut the deficit to one after earning a penalty stroke at 55:08. Donlin held her ground and made a blocker save on the attempt and kept her shutout intact. It was the final shot on goal she would face as a pair of Bobcat attempts late in the game were wide.

Donlin only needed to make three saves in the game. In front of her, Renee Grill, Maggie Fees, and Kendra Downey limited any optimal scoring opportunities for FSU. It was Donlin's second straight shutout. Leighty made 10 saves for the Bobcats.

Elizabethtown will host nationally-ranked Muhlenberg on Saturday, September 9, at 1 p.m. at Wolf Field.
