Four top-ten finishes for E-town at Dickinson's Long-Short Course Invite

NEWVILLE, Pa. -- Four runners from the Elizabethtown College women's cross country team turned in top-ten individual performances for the Blue Jays on Saturday at Dickinson's Long-Short Course Invitational at Big Spring High School. The four performances were split between the short and long course races.

A few athletes competed in another 4k, the short course at Big Spring and future site of the 2017 NCAA Mideast Regional. Kelsey Brady took to it kindly, five seconds off the leader to take second overall in 14:28.6. She set a new 4,000-meter PR in the process.

Kaitlin Donahue took fifth, narrowly, in 14:49.4, just behind Dickinson's Hannah Gore (14:46.1). Donahue's time was also a season-best and over a minute better than her best 4k of the season, a 15:43 in the season-opening meet at Shippensburg.

The trend continued for the E-town short course runners as Alexis Groce, who was the third runner to finish for the Jays, ran 15:14.9 to take 13th. Her previous best came at the same invitational as a sophomore in 2014 (16:04.47).

Emma Ager, like Donahue, ran a season-best time and Alyssa Taylor set a 4k PR at 16:30.9.

Brenna McNamee, Maria Anderson, Colleen Kernan were the scoring members for Elizabethtown in the long course race. McNamee was fourth in the 6k race at 22:26.9 as the top five finishers were all under 22:30.

Anderson came in next, in eighth, at 22:54.8. Kernan was 31st at 24:01.7 as E-town totaled 43 points in the long course. Erin Doherty, 49th overall, ran a 6k PR of 24:36.5 and Samantha Gehly was 51st in 24:37.9.

The Blue Jays' 43 long course points combined with their 20 short course points gave them 63 for the meet and second overall, behind Dickinson's 53. Bucknell was the only other team with less than 100 combined points.

The women's cross country team will get the first weekend of October off before heading to Rochester, N.Y. for the YellowJacket Invitational on Saturday, Oct. 14 at 11 a.m.
