Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Waso wins it for men's soccer in double overtime

MIDDLETOWN, Pa. -- When Elizabethtown needs him most, junior Gilbert Waso always seems to find a way to put the team on his shoulders. He did it again, Saturday, scoring both of the Blue Jays' goals, including the game-winner in the 104th minute of a 2-1 double overtime victory at Penn State Harrisburg.

Sophomore JD Haaf found Waso with just under 15 minutes left in the first half to give the Jays a 1-0 lead heading to halftime.

The Lions got the equalizer in the 51st minute when Chase Vilga deposited a Victor Weaver pass into the back of the net.

Elizabethtown (4-2) keeper Brian Gately made two of his four saves in the second half to keep the game deadlocked, despite the fact that Penn State Harrisburg (6-1) outshot the Jays 10-5 in regulation.

Graydon Rogers tested Lions' keeper Hunter Cooper early in overtime, but Cooper was up to the task. Waso and Sam Feehrer both sent shots high, but the Blue and Gray started to assert itself in the extra sessions, holding PSH without a shot.

Just over three minutes into the second overtime, Waso took a feed from Rogers and beat Cooper for the winner. It was Waso's third game-winner in six games this season and his eighth career game-winning goal.

The two sides ended up tied in shots, 10-10, after E-town held a 5-0 advantage the overtimes. E-town also attempted six corners to the Lions' two.

Elizabethtown looks for its fourth straight win on Wednesday night at 7 in Reading. The Jays will be on the road to take on Alvernia in the two teams' annual Kicks for Cancer game.
