No. 11 Ursinus stops field hockey's win streak at three

COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. -- A three-game winning streak came to an end for the Elizabethtown College field hockey team Wednesday night. Nationally-ranked No. 11 Ursinus blanked the Blue Jays 2-0 in a non-conference contest at Snell Field.

Ursinus (2-2) spent most of the game in the Elizabethtown (3-2) end, which kept goalie Margo Donlin busy.

The Bears' Erin Saybolt scored 1:21 before halftime to put UC ahead 1-0 just before the half. Donlin made four first-half saves.

Ursinus registered 16 shots in the second half, and the junior goalie stopped eight that were on goal. Bridget Sherry put the Bears up 2-0 on a penalty stroke at 64:01.

Donlin finished with a single-game career-high 12 saves, one more than she had in 2015, also at Ursinus. The Bears held the Blue Jays without a shot, the first time that's happened to the Blue and Gray since Oct. 10, 2009, against No. 1 Messiah, a span of 142 games.

Elizabethtown will play its second straight game away from Wolf Field on Saturday, September 16, at Washington & Lee at 3 p.m.
