Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Wilkinson nets first of career, Blue Jays dominant in win over Rutgers-Camden

CAMDEN, N.J. -- The Elizabethtown College women's soccer team got off to the start they were looking for Friday night with a dominating 3-0 win at Rutgers-Camden in non-conference action. Lydia Lawson struck twice for the Jays and Kristin Wilkinson scored the first goal of her career in E-town's shutout victory.

Lawson, the team's leading scorer a season ago, wasted no time getting back to it on Friday. The sophomore speedster ran onto a through ball played in by Alli Lasky and netted her first of two in the game on the game's first shot, just 2:52 in.

Hailey Parks needed just one save in the first half, which came at the 5:08 mark. The Elizabethtown (1-0) defense wouldn't allow another shot on goal the remainder of the half.

The Jays pushed to double the lead midway through the first. Shannon Conlon had back-to-back shots stopped about 15 seconds apart by Katie Gurba.

The search for the second goal went unfilled and EC took their 1-0 lead into the break having outshot Rutgers-Camden (0-1) 8-2.

Lasky picked up her second assist of the night as her corner kick was played on by Conlon to Wilkinson. Her shot from the right side found the back of the net for the first of her career in the 55th minute. That doubled E-town's lead to 2-0.

Janelle Barna and Conlon both had two shots saved by Gurba, as the Raptors' goalie did her best to keep it a two-goal game.

She was able to do so until Lawson struck for the second time in the game in the 74th minute. Lawson's looping shot from inside the box beat Gurba and Elizabethtown was comfortably ahead 3-0 with a little over 15 minutes to play.

Parks wasn't bothered much at all in the second half, either. She made one save, in the 67th minute, but otherwise was not tested as the Jays' defense limited RUC to only three second-half shots.

The Blue Jays finished with a 20 to 5 advantage in shots, including 12 on goal. Gurba made nine saves for the Raptors. Parks had a pair and went all 90 minutes for the shutout win.

E-town will play one more on the road, Tuesday, Sept. 5, at Penn State-Harrisburg for a 4 p.m. non-conference game.
