Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Women's soccer falls in OT to Penn State-Harrisburg

PALMYRA, Pa. -- Severe storms postponed the non-conference game between the Elizabethtown College women's soccer team and Penn State-Harrisburg on Tuesday, but the teams played through rainy conditions Wednesday night in order to get the game in between the two schools. At Palmyra's In the Net Sports Complex, Penn State-Harrisburg used a goal from Erica Hile in overtime to beat the Blue Jays, 1-0.

Alli Lasky tested Penn State-Harrisburg (3-0) goalkeeper Kayla Arnold in the 10th minute with a shot, but the Lions goalie saved the goal-scoring opportunity. Hailey Parks responded with a save of her own in the 15th minute for Elizabethtown (1-1). Lasky also had the Jays' second chance in the 20th minute, but Arnold stopped that shot, too.

The Lions registered the game's next three shots, though none of them were on target as the elements played a role. Madison Burnham forced Arnold into her third save of the night in the 30th minute.

Elizabethtown and Penn State-Harrisburg went into halftime with a 0-0 scoreline.

Arnold and Parks traded saves early on in the second half as either side tried to break through in the scoring column, but the keepers on both teams would not allow it.

Scoring chances were at a premium, and E-town had a final crack at a game-winner in the final ten seconds. Natalie Nye's shots went left of the goal, time ran out, and overtime was needed.

The Blue Jays had a corner in the 94th minute, but could not produce anything from it. In the 95th minute, Hile was able to end things with a shot that found the upper right corner. A 50/50 ball bounced out around the 18, and Hile's shot, the seventh of the night for PSH, found the netting and gave the Lions the win in OT.

Arnold finished with six saves for Penn State-Harrisburg, while Parks had a pair. Katrina Morales took a team-high seven shots for the Jays, putting three on goal.

Elizabethtown will host Gettysburg at Ira R. Herr Field on Saturday, September 9, at 7 p.m.
