Mahoney earns second Landmark Defensive AOTW award

TOWSON, Md. -- Elizabethtown College men's lacrosse freshman goalie Tom Mahoney was chosen as the Landmark Conference Defensive Athlete of the Week, Monday, after backstopping the Blue Jays to a 10-8 victory over Catholic last Saturday.

Mahoney turned away 10 shots from the Cardinals as Elizabethtown grabbed the top seed in the upcoming Landmark Conference Championship tournament.

The rookie from Hillsborough, New Jersey, has three games with 10 or more saves this season and has won eight straight starts. Mahoney, who has also registered eight or more saves in seven of his nine starts, is 13 away from 100 for the season. He's posted a 7.51 goals against average and .558 save percentage in 551:23 minutes.

Mahoney has won two of the last three Landmark Defensive Athlete of the Week awards. He and the Blue Jays will host fourth-seeded Scranton with a berth in the Landmark Championship on the line Wednesday at 4 p.m., on Wolf Field.
