Milligan tops Blue Jays, 8-1

HILTON HEAD ISLAND, S.C. -- Freshman Tristan Boheim earned Elizabethtown men's tennis its only point Wednesday in an 8-1 loss to NAIA member Milligan at the Hilton Head Island Beach & Tennis Resort.

Boheim improved to 3-1 on the season at No. 6 singles, leading start-to-finish in a 6-4, 6-2 victory against the Buffaloes' Will Blackmarr.

While the Blue Jays (2-2) were able to win a number of games, sets and matches were more elusive.

Milligan picked up five of a possible six points in singles to decide the match before the teams got to doubles. Due to both the men and women playing first, the men started with singles, while the women played doubles first.

Though the outcome was no longer in doubt, E-town showed resolve in competing to the last point. All three doubles matches were close, but Milligan ultimately won each (8-5 at No. 1, 8-4 at No. 2 and 8-6 at No. 3).

Elizabethtown plays its final match in Hilton Head Island on Friday at 3:30 p.m., against Gordon College.
