Men's lacrosse wins third straight, 13-9, at Albright

READING, Pa. -- Elizabethtown scored seven of the final 10 goals to down defending MAC Commonwealth runner-up Albright, 13-9, on the road Wednesday night.

Mike Specht put forth six points and was one of four players along with Joe Clark, Jason Clough and twin brother Nick Specht to register hat tricks.

The Lions (1-3) and Blue Jays traded goals late into the third quarter before a four-goal run to end the third and start the fourth opened up an 11-7 lead for E-town.

Clark's goal off a Cody Larkin feed with 2:04 left in the third gave the Jays (4-1) an 8-7 lead. Elizabethtown then turned an Albright turnover into a Nick Specht goal less than 30 seconds from the conclusion of the period to pull momentum further its way.

Important as the two goals to end the third were, a pair of quick hitters from the guests early in the fourth put Albright down four with under 10 minutes to go.

Phil Kyger scored his seventh goal of the season at 10:31, set up by Mike Specht, and 37 seconds later Clark took advantage of a man-up opportunity to thread a shot past Lions' goalie Ryan Aler for an 11-7 lead.

It could have been much worse for Albright if not for Aler, who stopped 18 shots from the offensively-minded Blue Jays.

Goals from Clough and Mike Specht in the final 61 seconds helped E-town restore its four-goal advantage at game's end.

Mike Specht and Albright's Cam Cetrone led all players with six points, each recording three goals and three assists.

Clark collected three goals and two assists, Clough three goals and Nick Specht three goals for E-town. Kyger added a goal and an assist and Larkin had two helpers.

Five different players recorded caused turnovers and the Blue and Gray cleared at a perfect 100 percent rate (15 of 15). Elizabethtown outshot the Lions 41-38, but were much more accurate with 31 of 41 shots on goal to Albright's 18 of 38. Clark and Cetrone were credited with a game-high 11 shots.

Sophomore goalie Brandon Calle won for the second time in as many starts this season, setting a new career-high with nine saves. Matt Rucci won 8 of 17 face-offs.

E-town will try to finish off its three-game road swing with a perfect record Saturday when it heads to Collegeville for a 1 p.m. matchup against No. 14 Ursinus.
