Seniors lead Blue Jays to 14-8 victory at Shenandoah

WINCHESTER, VA. -- Six seniors combined to score 20 points, Saturday, and Elizabethtown held Shenandoah to just two second-half goals in a 14-8 road victory.

Defending Landmark Offensive Athlete of the Week, Joe Clark, registered his second straight four-goal, one-assist game, while Mike Specht and Nick Specht each had hat tricks and two-assist performances.

Shenandoah actually outshot E-town (3-1) 17-16 in the first half and 40-30 for the game, but sophomore goalie Brandon Calle was solid throughout. Calle stopped two shots in each of the first three quarters, before making six of his career-high 12 in the fourth.

Elizabethtown, which led 8-6 at the half, finally put some distance between itself and the Hornets (2-2) in the third. The Jays got three Joe Clark goals and one each from Nick Specht (man-up), Mike Specht and Mike Scrafano to outscore Shenandoah 6-0 in the quarter.

Clark is now up to a team-leading 14 points on the strength of 10 goals and four assists and the Specht's each reached double-digit points for the season with their five-point outings Saturday. Nick has 13 points (8 goals, 5 assists) and Mike 11 (6 goals, 5 assists).

Shenandoah took an early lead 2:58 in when Eric Sawyer scored unassisted, but Phil Kyger (man-up), Mike Specht and Nick Specht all scored before the quarter was complete to seize a 3-2 lead.

Kyger aided Clark and the Specht's five-point games with two goals and a helper.

Elizabethtown looks to improve to 4-1 Wednesday when it heads to Albright for its second of three straight road games. Face-off is set for 7 p.m.
