Martin recognized as D3hoops.com All-Region

D3hoops.com 2016-17 Women's Basketball All-Mid Atlantic Team

ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. -- One of the Landmark Conference's top players, Emily Martin was recognized as one of the top ten players in the Mid-Atlantic region on Monday by D3hoops.com. Martin, a three-time Landmark Athlete of the Week selection this season for the Elizabethtown College women's basketball team, led the Blue Jays to the conference playoffs and earned her first all-region accolade of her career.

Martin accrued 16 double-doubles this season and was one of only two players in the Landmark to average a double-double for the season. She led E-town with 18.0ppg and 12.2 rebounds per game. Her scoring averaged ended up third in the conference while she led the league in rebounding and was 19th in NCAA Division III. Martin was also just one of 20 players this season to record a triple-double, the first of her career. She achieved the mark in Elizabethtown's Landmark semifinal loss at Catholic.

Defensively, Martin provided a towering presence in the paint. She blocked at least one shot or recorded at least one steal in 24 of 25 games and had at least one block and one steal in 23. Selected to the D3hoops.com Team of the Week in December, the Lancaster Catholic graduate became the program's all-time blocks leader late in the season in a game against Susquehanna. Martin averaged over three a game, which was tops in the Landmark and 13th in NCAA DIII.

Martin, who earned a spot on the All-Landmark First Team for a second consecutive season and was named co-Defensive Player of the Year by the conference, was named to the All-Mid Atlantic Second Team by D3hoops.com. She was one of five players from the Landmark to be named all-region, the most of any Division III team in the Middle Atlantic.
