Second-half lead slips away for Blue Jays vs. Moravian

ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. -- Elizabethtown led Landmark Conference tournament hopeful Moravian 38-32 at halftime, but the Greyhounds athleticism was on full display in the second half. Moravian outscored E-town by 22 in the second half to leave Thompson Gymnasium with a 79-63 victory.

Josh Eden and Matt Lapkowicz had 18 points apiece to pace the hosts. Connor Moffatt had 11 points and a team-high eight rebounds and rookie point guard Ethan DuBois chipped in 10 points, six boards and two steals.

Moravian senior standout Brandon McGuire came on strong in the second to total 20 points and 14 rebounds while making a game-high 10 shots (10 of 17).

The Greyhounds, who came into the game 13th in NCAA Division III in 3-point field goals made (212) and 3-point field goal percentage (38.6%) were once again held well below their season averages by a game Blue Jays' defense.

E-town limited Moravian to 5 of 24 shooting (20.8%) from deep after the Hounds made just 5 of 23 in the teams' previous meeting on Dec. 3.

McGuire was joined in double figures by Oneil Holder (14 points) and Jimmy Murray (12).

Saturday's loss drops Elizabethtown to 4-16 overall and 1-9 in Landmark play. Though they were longshots to win out, the loss officially eliminated the Blue Jays from postseason contention.

Moravian, meanwhile, improved to 14-7 (7-3 Landmark) as it tries to secure its first conference postseason berth since 2011-12.

Elizabethtown heads to Juniata Wednesday night for a 7 p.m. tip-off.
