WASHINGTON, D.C. -- After two straight Landmark Conference Championship appearances, the 2017 version will not feature the Elizabethtown College field hockey team. The Blue Jays dropped a 3-0 decision at No. 11 Catholic Wednesday night in a Landmark Conference semifinal matchup.

The game was quiet through six minutes until Emma Christman registered the first shot of the game, putting an attempt on frame that goalie Sophia Hamilton had to save for Catholic (15-2).

The Cardinals made it 1-0 on their second shot of the game, a goal from Meghan Shallow to put the top-seeded team in the Landmark ahead.

Emily Garvin tried to even the game at 1-1 at 13:28, but Hamilton stopped her shot. Six minutes later, Madison Kubik had the Jays next scoring chance, but was also denied by the Catholic goalie. Christman was stopped for a second time in the half at 23:05, E-town's last shot on goal before halftime.

Rachel Day doubled the lead to 2-0 a little over six minutes into the second half and the mountain got a little higher to climb for Elizabethtown (8-10).

Katie Anderson made it 3-0 nothing at 52:16, leaving the Blue Jays less than 18 minutes to get back into the game in order to continue the season.

The offense turned it on, but it was too little too late for the fourth-seeded Jays. Christman had a pair of attempts saved by Hamilton. With less than a minute to go, Megan Eppley was the closest to getting E-town on the board, but Kelly Cousoulis made the defensive save to keep Eppley's ball out and the Cardinals' shutout intact.

Catholic advanced to Saturday's championship final with the 3-0 win.

Margo Donlin made four saves for Elizabethtown in 54:38. Hannah Mack played the final 15:22 for the Blue Jays. Hamilton made six saves for Catholic.
