11 STRAIGHT! Different year, same result for women's cross country at conference meet

HUNTINGDON, Pa. -- After seeing the men's team get a fourth straight Landmark Conference championship, the women's cross country team did what it had done the previous ten conference championship meet: win. Leaving no doubt Saturday on Juniata's course, E-town placed all five scoring members in the top seven to dominate the Landmark Championships with a meet-low 23 points for the program's 11th straight conference title and fourth in a row in the Landmark.

Only three runners in Saturday's championship race finished in under 24 minutes, with two of them being Blue Jays.

Scranton's Abby Corrigan, a freshman, was the individual champion at 23:13.36 and later named Rookie of the Year. She was pushed by Kelsey Brady, who took second, her best finish in a conference meet in her career. Brady ran 23:15.51.

Not far off her pace was Maria Anderson, who was the third runner to finish. Anderson's final time was 23:18.72, also her best championship finish and third consecutive All-Landmark First Team performance.

E-town's depth was yet again on display. After Erin Reese of Susquehanna took fourth, three straight runners bearing Elizabethtown uniforms came in. Colleen Kernan was fifth in 24:23.08, Brenna McNamee sixth in 24:27.75, and Kaitlin Donahue seventh in 24:35.09. All five scoring members earned All-Landmark First Team and were in before the top runner of four other schools.

For Kernan, it was her third all-conference honor and first on the First Team. McNamee also earned her third straight all-conference honor, all on the First Team.

Alexis Groce was ninth and was All-Landmark Second Team. For the win, head coach Brian Falk was named the Landmark Coach of the Year.

The women's team will have a weekend off before competing at the NCAA Division III Mideast Regional race at Big Spring High School on Saturday, November 11.
