E-town goes 1-2-3, win Rochester Yellowjacket Invitational

ROCHESTER, N.Y. -- The Elizabethtown College women's cross country team took first, second, and third individually and had four runners in the top ten at Saturday's Rochester Yellowjacket Invitational. The Blue Jays finished with a meet-low 25 points to win the invitational.

Elizabethown was led by its trio of seniors, Brenna McNamee, Maria Anderson, and Kelsey Brady. McNamee was the individual race winner, followed by Anderson in second, and Brady in third.

McNamee was the leader through the first 2,000 meters, slightly ahead of a host of runners that were right on her heels. As the pack began to fall off, Anderson and Brady moved up and followed the lead of McNamee to the finish.

McNamee's winning time was 22:42.3, her second first-place finish of the season and fourth consecutive top-four finish.

Anderson's second-place run was the best finish of her career and the third time in the last three races she's finished at least eighth or better. The senior ran 22:50.0, her fastest 6k of the season.

Brady finished in 22:55.7, her first 6,000-meter race of the season.

Colleen Kernan was the fourth Blue Jay runner in the top ten as the junior placed eighth in 23:29.9, over a half-minute improvement from her 6k time at Dickinson two weeks ago.

Kaitlin Donahue continued her strong freshman season, scoring once again for Elizabethtown. Donahue took 11th in Saturday's race, just over a second off of the tenth-place finishers time. The first-year Blue Jay finished in 23:36.7.

E-town claimed first place for the third time this season and second time at an invitational. The Jays were first of the 13 scored teams with a meet-low 25 points.

Up next is the LVC Last Chance Run Fast Invitational on Friday, October 20 at 4:30 p.m., eight days ahead of the Landmark Conference Championships at Juniata.
