Women's cross country wins Blue Jay Alumni Challenge

ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. -- The current Elizabethtown College women's cross country team won Saturday's home meet against a host of former ECXC alums that took part in the 2016 Blue Jay Alumni Challenge on E-town's campus loop. Eileen Cody '14 was the top individual finisher in the race.

Cody cruised to a first-place finish and was the only runner to run sub-16 minute in the 4.24k race. She averaged 6:01.8 mile pace and ended with a 15:53.10.

The current Blue Jays took control with place finishers two through eight, led by senior Casey Quinto, who ran 16:03.70 for second.

Quinto was followed in by Brenna McNamee (third) at 16:17.70, Colleen Kernan (fourth) in 16:23.90, Kelsey Brady (fifth) in 16:25.20, and Brianna Earnshaw (sixth) in 16:27.60.

The five point scorers for the Jays totaled 20 to the Alumni's 43. Also scoring for the former Blue Jays were Traci Tempone '14, Ashley Underkofler '14, Amanda Kerno '14, and Amelia Tearnan '15.

The women's cross country team has the remainder of September off before heading to SUNY Geneseo for the Mike Woods Invitational on Sat. Oct. 1 at 10 a.m.
