Clark, Specht collect USILA/Nike All-America honors

ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. – Elizabethtown College men's lacrosse juniors Joe Clark and Mike Specht were recognized Sunday as All-America Honorable Mention picks by the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (USILA).

Clark and Specht's selections gave the Blue Jays two All-Americans in the same year for the first time in program history and doubled Elizabethtown's all-time honorees to four.

The first Elizabethtown player to produce two 40-goal seasons in a career, Clark nearly replicated his 2015 season, tying a career-high with 40 goals and setting new benchmarks in assists (25) and points (65). Clark went for 40 goals, 24 assists and 64 points as a sophomore.

The Hershey native was named an all-conference first team attackman for the third time in as many seasons. Clark ranked third in the Landmark Conference in goals, assists, points and shots on goals (77). He will enter his senior season one goal shy of becoming the school's fourth 100-goal scorer. Clark's 167 career points are tied for second all-time at the College with hall of famer and former All-American Frankie Puzzangara (2007). His  68 career assists are tied for third and 99 goals fourth.

Two-time All-Landmark Conference First Team midfielder Mike Specht enjoyed the best season of his career on both sides of the ball. The Jackson, N.J., product  registered new career-highs in games played (17), goals (29), assists (14), points (43), shots (103), shots on goal (55), ground balls (29) and caused turnovers (10).

Specht ranked within the top 10 in the conference in goals, assists, points and shots. He scored a point in 16-of-17 games for the Landmark runner-up Blue Jays. Specht is nearing 100 career points, having collected 60 goals and 34 assists for 94 points in three seasons.

Prior to Sunday's announcement, Puzzangara and Aaron Weber (2010) were the Blue Jays' only All-Americans. All four E-town All-Americans have been Honorable Mention selections.
