Juniata defeats men's tennis 8-1

Results

ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. – Elizabethtown stole a point at third doubles against defending conference champion Juniata Friday afternoon, but the Eagles sent the Blue Jays to an 8-1 defeat at the Alumni Courts.

Evan Hinkley and Nick Strobel scratched out a 9-8 (2) win in a tiebreaker against Mike Lifshitz and Logan Moore to run their record to 8-4 together this season, but it marked the only point for the Blue Jays on the day.

Juniata (8-7, 3-1 Landmark) posted a commanding 8-1 win at No. 2 doubles and its No. 1 pair held off a challenge from the Jays' Alex Machalick and Ryan Caris, 8-6.

Singles belonged to the Eagles, as they won all six flights in straight sets.

Elizabethtown's record dipped to 4-6 (2-2 Landmark) with the loss.

The Blue Jays are back on their home courts Saturday to face Catholic at 1 p.m.
