ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa.  – Joe Clark returned with a flurry and rookie defender Jeremy Klipple hounded Goucher all afternoon as Elizabethtown men's lacrosse remained perfect in Landmark Conference play with a 12-7 win on Wolf Field Tuesday.

Clark scored five points, including his fifth hat trick of the season, in his return to the lineup after a one-game absence. He opened the scoring at 8:48 of the first and closed it on a goal with 4.3 seconds left as the Blue Jays (9-3, 4-0 Landmark) built a 4-1 lead and never looked back.

Goucher (7-5, 0-4) outscored Elizabethtown 3-2 in the second quarter, closing within 6-4 at the half on Conner Annunziato's man-up goal in the final minute.

Despite the best efforts of Gopher goalie Matt Messerle, who made 10 of his career-high 19 saves in the third quarter, E-town managed goals from Clark, Phil Kyger and Luke Stephens to expand its lead to 9-5 entering the final 15 minutes.

Elizabethtown held a significant 48-29 edge in shots and were a perfect 3-for-3 on the man advantage, receiving goals from Kyger, Dan Bednarik and Nick Specht.

Kyger raised his goal total to 17 with his second straight hat trick and third of the season. Nick Specht added two and Mike Specht had a goal and two assists.

Jeremy Klipple picked up a career-high six ground balls and equaled his career-high with four caused turnovers, accounting for almost half of the Blue Jays' nine Tuesday. Stephens chipped in with a pair, while Jon Knapp, Kyger and Nick Specht forced one each.

The Blue Jays and Gophers split 22 face-offs evenly. E-town was led by Matt Rucci at the X, who went 10-of-16. Goalie Davis Miracle stopped three shots in the first, second and fourth quarters, finishing with 11 saves overall.

Clark set up a pair of E-town goals in addition to his hat trick, marking the fourth time this season he's scored five points or more in a game. The Hershey native took a game-high 10 shots and collected four ground balls. Kyger and Jason Clough also had four ground balls apiece.

Tuesday's win extended Elizabethtown's winning streak to five games and the Blue Jays are now carrying an 11-game regular season winning streak against Landmark Conference opponents. They'll put both on the line Saturday at Drew. Game time is 1 p.m.
