Chad Lammer wins 20th match of the season in Jays loss at No. 4 Messiah

GRANTHAM, Pa. – Senior Chad Lammer claimed his 20th win of the season and 67th of his career in Elizabethtown's 42-3 loss at No. 4 Messiah Friday night.

Lammer beat the Falcons' Greg Kabakjian for the second time this season, 6-4, in a close decision to account for the Blue Jays' (6-7) only points of the match. With the win, Lammer is now 20-10 on the year and 67-44 in his career.

Messiah (16-2) opened up a 6-0 lead with two-time defending NCAA DIII runner-up No. 2/1 Lucas Malmberg scoring a first period pin over Philip Torresani. The Falcons would go on to collect bonus points in six of the nine bouts they won.

E-town did compete hard at a number of weight classes with the decisions just not going the Blue Jays' way.

At 141, Mike Lammer fell 5-3 to Arty Walsh and Rocco Hladney, new to the honorable mention section of the latest d3wrestle.com rankings, took an early lead against the nation's No. 3 ranked 184-pound grappler Josh Thomson before taking a 5-3 defeat.

Luke Fernandez, a d3wrestle.com honorable mention pick, fell 3-0 to eighth-ranked Kyle Koser at 197.

Messiah featured five wrestlers in its lineup nationally-ranked in the top 10 by both the National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA) and d3wrestle.com. The Falcons had an additional two starters receiving contender or honorable mention accolades from d3wrestle.com.

Elizabethtown wraps up its dual schedule Tuesday evening at York (Pa.). The match is a makeup from Jan. 23, when snow postponed the dual between the two schools.
