Blue Jays roll into break with 181-55 win over Juniata

ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. -- Elizabethtown College women's swimming won 13-of-14 events to defeat Juniata 181-55 Saturday afternoon at the Alumni Pool.

The Blue Jays (4-4, 1-3 Landmark) have won three straight meets heading into winter break.

Sophomore Erika Cole and freshman Sara Lingo won three events apiece to lead the Blue and Gray. Megan Anderson, Sadie Hawkins, Karlie Kimball and Dru Schneider also had multi-win days for the hosts.

Kimball, Schneider, Hawkins and Cole were first to finish in the meet-opening 200-yard medley relay, securing the win by nearly five seconds in 2:06.20.

The Blue Jays also held off Juniata (0-6, 0-4) for second in the relay, as Anderson, Sarah Alps, Maddie Ripley and Maddie Lasko recorded a 2:11.09 to the Eagles' top time of of 2:11.44.

Lingo established a new career best in winning the 1000 freestyle. Her time of 11:38.78 was good for 10th fastest in the conference this season. E-town also got a second-place finish from Mariselle Parisi (12:07.14) and a fourth from Katie Derreth (12:59.84) behind season-best times from both.

Anderson won her first of two races in the 200 free with a 2:14.49 and Kimball (1:09.99) led teammates Sarah Helt (season-best 1:14.36) and Cole (1:14.38) in a sweep of the top three spots in the 100 backstroke.

Schneider triumphed in the 100 breaststroke (1:18.18). Hawkins swam an uncontested exhibition in the 200 butterfly, but still went more than five ticks faster than her previous quick time to finish in 2:34.97.

Elizabethtown again went 1-2-3 in the 50 free, as Cole won in 26.73, Lasko followed in a season-best 28.30 and Cheryl Errichetti placed third in 28.46.

Ripley and Molly Templin both set their best times of the season in the 100 free to claim the top two spots. Ripley went 1:02.03 and Templin 1:05.12.

Lingo won the 200 back, Parisi the 200 breast and Anderson the 500 free as the Blue Jays won the first 10 scored events.

Juniata's lone win came from Jocelyn Skelly in the 100 fly, but E-town answered back with a 1:11.79 from Hawkins to win the 100 individual medley and then placed first and second in the 200 free relay.

Cole, Hawkins, Lingo and Lasko were tops in the finale, putting forth a 1:51.24.

Elizabethtown will train in Florida over winter break and returns to dual competition on Saturday, Jan. 14, 2017, at Washington (Md.).
