Blue Jays hang three on Catholic for third straight win

WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Gilbert Waso manufactured his second consecutive two-goal game and Travis Wilson also scored as Elizabethtown extended its winning streak to three with a 3-1 victory at Catholic late Saturday night.

Catholic jumped on top 1-0 in the 22nd minute courtesy of Brian Galfond's third goal of the season.

The Blue Jays (8-2-1, 3-0-1) answered less than 10 minutes later with Waso beating CUA keeper Zachery Tashjy to a 50/50 ball and pushing it into the back of the net for his eighth at 29:55.

In the final minutes of the first half, Wilson, a rookie from West Chester, Pennsylvania, put home a rebound for his second of the year and gave E-town the lead for good.

Though Catholic (5-7, 1-3) wound up with two more shots in the game, Elizabethtown managed to put one more shot on frame than the hosts, 7-6.

Waso, who had gone five games without a goal prior to breaking through with two last Wednesday at Moravian, finished off the scoring in the 72nd minute by beating Tashjy, unassisted.

Waso now has four goals in his last two games and is tied atop the Landmark with 20 points (nine goals, two assists). The sophomore was a menace for Catholic defenders Saturday, posting game-highs of six shots and three shots on goal.

Teammate Jeff Light compiled three shots (two on goal) and senior keeper Ryan Sandell made five saves.

Elizabethtown steps out of conference to face Penn State Berks on the road Wednesday at 7 p.m.
