Leaf, Blue Jays run wild on Moravian

ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. -- The Elizabethtown College field hockey team enjoyed its home cooking over the past four games. The Blue Jays won decisively Wednesday at Wolf Field over Moravian and completed the four-game home stand with a fourth straight victory. Nicole Leaf established a new career-high with six points and E-town had six different players score goals in the 8-1 rout.

Elizabethtown (8-4, 4-0 Landmark) did not take long to begin the scoring parade as Halley Donlin redirected Leaf's shot from out top just over a minute into the Landmark Conference contest for her second of the season.

Leaf, coming into the game with three points on the season, was one point closer after assisting on Charity Good's fifth of the year a little over three minutes later after Donlin's game-opener to make it 2-0 Blue Jays.

Emma Christman was able to cash in on Kelsey Detweiler's cross for her team-leading seventh of the year 8:04 in as E-town took a commanding 3-0 lead. Christman then assisted on Madison Kubik's third of the season at 20:18. Kubik's shot deflected on a defender's stick up and over Moravian (0-11, 0-3 Landmark) goalie Megan Kanyuk and into the cage.

Elizabethtown outshot the Greyhounds 14-1 in the first half and 33-4 in the game. The 33 shots were a season-high, as were the 29 shots on goal, goals, assists, and points.

40 seconds into the second half, Allison McLamb knocked home a loose ball directly in front of the goal to make it 5-0.

Leaf added her third assist of the game minutes later. Her shot from out top was tipped in by Detweiler off a penalty corner insert. It was Detweiler's first of the season.

It was then Leaf's turn to get into the goal-scoring column. Her initial shot was stopped by Taya Edwards-Wentz, but she drove in the follow-up attempt for her first of the season. The senior midfielder then set up Good for her second of the game and sixth of the season at 43:54. E-town led 8-0 at that point.

Elisa Silecchia was able to break up the shutout bid at 50:24 with her first goal off Kyla Rodrigues' assist.

Hannah Mack started for the Jays and got the win to move to 3-1. Mack and Margo Donlin each had one save in the game.

Elizabethtown will travel to face Goucher on Saturday, Oct. 15 at 1 p.m.
