Quinto, McNamee guide women's XC to second-place finish

GENESEO, N.Y. -- Seeing a lot of faces they'll see next month at the NCAA Division III Mideast Regional meet, the Elizabethtown College women's cross country team had a strong showing at the Mike Woods Invitational hosted by SUNY Geneseo on Saturday. The Blue Jays were second in the team standings with 55 points, only one of two teams under 100 for the meet.

Senior Casey Quinto finished in a familiar spot with a seventh-place run. It was the fourth straight meet to start the season that she placed in the top ten. Quinto timed in at 22:26.9 for her 6k.

Junior Brenna McNamee made it two in the top ten for E-town as she finished tenth overall in 22:40.3 at 6:05 mile pace. For McNamee, it was her third race at tenth or better on the season.

The Jays showed its muscle as the remaining three point-scorers were inside the top 20. Brianna Earnshaw was 14th at 22:59.9, Kelsey Brady was 16th in 23:03.4, and Maria Anderson was 18th in a final time of 23:06.5.

Geneseo won the meet with 22 points. Emma Jones of RIT was the top individual finisher at 21:39.8.

The women's cross country team runs again next Saturday, Oct. 8 at DeSales.
