Blue Jays to honor Druck during Jan. 12 match

ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. – Elizabethtown College wrestling will honor the memory of former Blue Jay grappler Benn Anthony Druck II during its Tuesday, Jan. 12, home match against Shippensburg. Druck passed away Sept. 27, 2015, at age 47.

Born in York, Druck graduated from Dallastown Area High School in 1986, before joining the Blue Jays. He was a four-year member of the wrestling team at Elizabethtown College from 1986-90, serving as co-captain during his senior season (1989-90).

Druck earned his bachelor of science in occupational therapy from the College in 1991. He spent more than 20 years as a professional therapist, doing four years of inpatient rehabilitation and 18 in outpatient with focus on hand rehabilitation. Druck last worked for Advantage Physical Therapy.

An avid outdoorsman, Druck enjoyed bow hunting, spending time with his family, cutting firewood, following high school/college wrestling and visiting his cabin in Waterville, Pa.

Druck is survived by his wife of 23 years, Denise R. (Diemer) Druck, also an occupational therapist. The couple met while at Elizabethtown. Benn is also survived by son, Tanner, a student in the biology program at Seton Hill University, and daughter, Jenna, a nursing student at York College of Pennsylvania.

The Blue Jays will host NCAA Division II Shippensburg University on Tuesday, Jan. 12, at 7 p.m., in Thompson Gymnasium. Prior to the match, at 6, a reception will be held in the lobby at Thompson with light refreshments.

A scholarship fund in Druck's name has been set up at his alma mater, Dallastown Area High School. The scholarship is awarded to a Dallastown senior planning to pursue a degree in occupational, physical or speech therapy.
