TOWSON, Md. — The Elizabethtown College women's soccer team grabbed an important road conference victory Saturday afternoon at Goucher, its first league win of the season, doubling up the Gophers 2-1 behind goals from Katrina Morales and Morgan Chambers.

Maddie Burkhardt tried to give Elizabethtown (6-4-1, 1-1 Landmark) the lead in the fourth minute, but her shot was saved by Julianna Harkavy to keep it scoreless.

Morales subbed on in the 24th minute and three minutes into her first game-action of the afternoon, the freshman took a Trisha Clark pass and netted the first goal of her Blue Jay career to put the Jays ahead 1-0 in the 27th minute.

E-town held Goucher (6-3-2, 1-1 Landmark) without a first-half shot.

The Blue Jays controlled the second half as well as the Gophers didn't register their first shot of the game until the 65th minute. By then, it was 2-0 E-town as Chambers claimed her second of the season off a Maria Boretti assist in the 59th minute.

Goucher began to generate an attack over the final 20 minutes of the contest, forcing Dana Robidoux into two saves. Alex Collier cut the deficit in half with a goal in the 86th minute, but it would be the final shot of the afternoon for the Gophers.

The women's soccer team will have a full week off before returning to the pitch on Saturday, October 10 to face Susquehanna at Ira R. Herr Field. That game is scheduled for 1 p.m.
