Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Late goal from Cerankowski beats Susquehanna

ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. – Elizabethtown women's soccer exhausted any ideas of heading to extra time Saturday when Kaceyanne Cerankowski scored the go-ahead go with 2:06 to play to defeat Susquehanna, 2-1, in a Landmark Conference game at Ira R. Herr Field.

Statistically, the Blue Jays (7-4-1, 2-1 Landmark) carried the play in the first half, but it wasn't until the 40th minute that they were rewarded for it. Junior Miriah Dwyer scored her first career goal off a cross from Lindsay Hoagland and the lead would stand up for Elizabethtown for much of the afternoon.

Susquehanna (6-5-2, 0-3) answered in the 78th minute when a shot from Grayclynn Juckes found the back of the net. Kelley McKenna assisted on the marker for the Crusaders.

Needing a big play down the stretch, Elizabethtown got one from none other than Cerankowski, a senior midfielder and the team's leading goal scorer. Sydney Nester found Cerankowski on the right side and the Langhorne native deposited the ball past SU keeper Jordyn Slocum (eight saves) from just outside the 18-yard box for the winner and her sixth goal of the campaign.

The Blue Jays outshot the Crusaders 25-8 and administered more than 10 shots in each half. Elizabethtown also drew six of its seven corner kicks in the first half and held a 7-2 edge at game's end.

Winners of three straight, the women's soccer team will be back on its home field Wednesday evening at 7 to take on Moravian.
