Women's soccer flies past Rosemont

ROSEMONT, Pa. — The Elizabethtown College women's soccer team closed out its non-conference portion of the schedule at Rosemont Tuesday afternoon. The Blue Jays shut out the Ravens by a 3-0 final, four days ahead of its pivotal Landmark showdown with Scranton on Senior Day. Sam Procak, Trisha Clark, and Morgan Chambers scored for E-town in the victory.

It was a game in which Elizabethtown (11-5-1) dominated the stat sheet, finishing with a decisive advantage in shots, 21-2. E-town also had five corners to none for Rosemont (6-10-1).

The Blue Jays had four chances in the first eight minutes, including Lauren Berry's attempt that went off the woodwork, but couldn't get the game's first goal despite the opportunities. Though, the persistence finally paid off in the 40th minute when Procak touched in Katrina Morales' pass.

Four minutes later, E-town doubled its lead when Procak set up Clark from ten yards out. Procak fed the senior a through ball to the right side and Clark buried her shot for her second of the season.

Unlike the first half where it took nearly 40 minutes to get a goal, Elizabethtown put in its third of the game three minutes into the second half. Kara Weller directed a cross directly in front of goal and Chambers was there for the goal, her third of the season, to make it 3-0 Jays.

The deficit could have been greater for the Ravens, but goalie Jenna Kaiser made nine saves in goal to keep it a three-goal margin. Dana Robidoux and Hailey Parks combined for the shut out. Neither E-town keeper had to make a save.

Elizabethtown will either be the No. 2 or No. 3 seed in the Landmark Conference playoffs, with Saturday's game with Scranton the decider. A win or draw for the Blue Jays give them the second seed while a loss drops them to the third. No matter the results, E-town and Scranton will play one another in next week's semifinal. Saturday's game at Ira R. Herr Field, also E-town's Senior Day, will begin at 3:30 p.m.
