Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Fredericks' goal the difference in win at Drew

MADISON, N.J. — Lauren Fredericks' goal in the 58th minute was the only goal of Saturday afternoon's Landmark Conference contest between the Elizabethtown College women's soccer team and Drew. E-town dominated statistically and improved to 5-1 in conference play with one league game remaining.

Elizabethtown (10-5-1, 5-1 Landmark) finished with double-digit shots in each half and totaled 22 in the game compared to just three for Drew (7-9-1, 2-4 Landmark), which all came in the second half.

E-town had ten first-half shots, but only got three of those on goal. Rangers' goalie Sara Nash stopped all three to keep the game scoreless.

Her first test of the game came on a shot by Lindsay Hoagland in the eighth minute. She saved shots by Trisha Clark in the 31st and 43rd minutes. Andee Higgins replaced Nash in the second half.

With some playoff seeding in the balance, the Blue Jays knew that with the way it was controlling the game, a single goal could be all it would need to get the win.

Lauren Berry and Haley Vozzella had chances stopped in the 51st and 53rd minutes, but Fredericks finally found a way through in the 58th.

Fredericks got into the box and eluded a defender before beating Higgins one-on-one for her fourth goal of the season and the ever-important first goal of the game.

Dana Robidoux made her only save of the game in the 66th minute, saving a Caroline Kelly shot. Drew didn't register another shot on goal the rest of the game.

The Blue Jays have one Landmark game on its schedule, which is next Saturday, October 31 when it hosts Scranton in a pivotal matchup that will determine if E-town hosts a semifinal or will be on the road. First, the Jays will face Rosemont on Tuesday, October 27 to close out the non-conference portion of the schedule.
