ResultsCOLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – Senior
Zeke Zimmer won a pair of matches Saturday to reach 70 for his career, while sophomore
Luke Fernandez enjoyed a 3-1 day in the North/South Duals at Ursinus College. The Blue Jays earned a 37-12 victory over McDaniel, but fell in matchups with Oneonta, Ursinus and Worcester Polytechnic Institute.
Philip Torresani's 5-3 decision over Dominic DeGraba at 125 pounds and a 2:17 fall from
Bryan Pflanz at 133 staked the Blue Jays (3-8) to an instant 9-0 lead over Oneonta in their first match of the day.
For Pflanz, it was his second pin in as many matches, after registering the first of his career in Wednesday night's win at Scranton.
Oneonta took control by winning the next five weight classes, however. Consecutive pins from Evan Wallace (157) and Mitchell Fisher (165), and three decisions put the Red Dragons ahead 21-9 with three bouts left.
Fernandez worked a 5-1 decision over Vincent Provenzano at 184 and moved above .500 for the season with a 9-8 record.
Oneonta (4-4) tallied falls at 197 and 285 to close the match.
Zimmer, 2-2 on Saturday, scored E-town's only points in a 46-4 loss to unbeaten Ursinus (5-0). The senior nearly shut out Cody Richmond at 174, defeating him 9-1, for the major decision and 69th win of his career.
Elizabethtown's active career wins leader got No. 70 in his team's win over McDaniel, starting a run of four straight weight class wins that turned a 22-12 match into a 37-12 rout. Zimmer snuck past Jake Poonton 8-7. He was followed by a 6-3 decision from Fernandez (184), and pins from
Eric Eckstein (3:22) at 197 and
