ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. — In only its second home game over the first month of the season, the Elizabethtown College women's basketball team kept its record unblemished at Thompson Gymnasium with a 65-39 victory over Merchant Marine to move to 2-0 in the Landmark Conference.

The Blue Jays converted 14-of-23 free throws and almost had as many points from the foul line as they did from the floor (10 field goals made) in the opening half.
E-town forced 17 turnovers and converted them into 17 points.
Krissy Pennell had a team-high five steals, all coming in the first half.
Rachel Schultz,

Alyssa Aichele's steal led to the first points of the game. On the other end, she dished off to
Taylor Alwine, who hit her first shot of the game to make it 2-0 Elizabethtown. Forjan came up with a steal on USMMA's next offensive possession. She found
Emily Martin for the fast-break bucket to force the Mariners into an early timeout.
Forjan netted the next three points, followed by two free throws from Ferro and one from
Nikki Thompson that made it 10-0 Blue Jays with 11:06 left in the half. Merchant Marine finally broke through on Tichina Carmon's jumper with 10:23 to go.
Corinne Foster was one of two players to get her first collegiate points in this game for Elizabethtown. Foster sank a jumper with 2:26 left in the first half to push E-town's advantage up to 32-9. She added another basket in the second half to finish with four.
Jenny Welch had the assist on Foster's jumper.
With a 34-16 lead at halftime, EC came out with two quick buckets from Forjan and Alwine to send the lead back to 20-plus. Gingrich, the team's second-leading scorer in the game with nine, sank all four of her foul shots in the second half.Â
Meredith Holley connected on two of her three attempts from the charity stripe to record her first points as a Blue Jay.
Despite the season-low shooting percentage, E-town was able to make up for it with a season-high 23 foul shots made and 26 total points off turnovers. Gingrich was a team-best 5-for-6 at the line. The Jays also dominated the paint with a 24-12 advantage down low.
