Women's swimming routs FDU-Florham

MADISON, N.J. – Elizabethtown women's swimming won 10-of-11 events Saturday to earn its first dual win of 2014-15 at FDU-Florham in a landslide, 143-38.

Kimberly Cosgrove and Amanda Long recorded two wins each for the blue and gray (1-2). Cosgrove, who didn't take part in her usual 1000-yard freestyle, won the 200 free (2:10.20) and 500 free (5:43.90).

Long came within nine-hundredths of a second of her season best in winning the 100 breaststroke in 1:13.70. She was also victorious in the 50 free with a 28-flat and swam the butterfly to help the 200 medley relay team to a winning time of 2:08.30 along with Megan Anderson (backstroke), Dru Schneider (breaststroke) and Tara Deisher (freestyle).

Along with the multi-event winners, Elizabethtown had five different individual winners on the women's side.

Sophomore Katie Derreth was the top finisher in the 1000 free, clocking in at 12:51.72. Schneider won the 200 individual medley (2:37.10), while Hunter Smith cut more than three seconds off her season best in the 100 fly with a 1:10.80.

Tara Deisher battled teammate Mariselle Parisi for the win in the 100 free, Disher getting to the wall two-tenths ahead of Parisi in 1:02.70. Parisi swam 1:02.90 and the Jays took the top four spots.

Anderson, a freshman from Coopersburg, took the 100 back in a career-best 1:10.40, more than two seconds faster than her previous best.

Elizabethtown is back at home for the second time this season Friday against Drew. The meet is scheduled for a 6:30 p.m. start.
