SELINSGROVE, Pa. — The Elizabethtown College women's soccer team won its third straight contest by shutting out Landmark Conference opponent Susquehanna on the road Saturday. The Jays got a second-half goal from
Lauren Berry, which is all E-town would need to secure the victory.
Deanna Slater directed her shot on goal in the eighth minute for Elizabethtown (8-3, 2-1 Landmark), which was the first chance of the game for either team. Susquehanna (4-9, 1-3 Landmark) goalkeeper Jordyn Slocum made the save, one of four first-half saves.
Slocum denied a header from
Trisha Clark, another shot from Slater, and
Kaceyanne Cerankowski's scoring opportunity in the 22nd minute. E-town outshot the Crusaders 16-6 over the course of the game.
Berry, having recorded just one goal in the first nine games of the season, continued her recent form by scoring her fourth goal in two games. Her 60th minute goal off
Kaceyanne Cerankowski's assist was rather important, as it was the only one of the game. Berry now has five goals on the year.
E-town's defense took care of the rest. Susquehanna registered six shots over the 90 minutes, none of which were on goal.
Dana Robidoux did not need to make a save in what was her third shutout of the season, tying a career high.
The women's soccer team doesn't have long to rest as they host Christopher Newport tomorrow afternoon at 2 p.m. on Ira R. Herr Field.
