CARLISLE, Pa. – Elizabethtown was unable to break out of its current slump Wednesday night in a non-conference match at Dickinson, coming away without a victory for the eighth match in a row after a 3-1 (19-25, 25-17, 18-25, 19-25) defeat.
Brittianni Phillips gave the Blue Jays nine kills and six blocks (three solo) and
Kelci Scannapieco added 10 kills.
Elizabethtown (7-13) dropped the opening set, but 10 Dickinson (4-7) errors and a -.154 hitting percentage in the second allowed the visitors to level the match at a set apiece with a 25-17 win.
The Red Devils would regain their stranglehold on the match in the third, piling up 12 kills and hitting at a .257 rate to jump back in front.
Jen Cook, who finished with team-highs of 18 digs and four aces, led the Jays' 11-ace attack.
Allie Traynor served a pair of aces to go along with seven kills, and
Shannon Deck also had two aces. E-town got 29 assists from
Steph High and double-digit digs from
Taylor Beck (13) and Traynor (10).
Elizabethtown bested the Red Devils in kills (38-35) and aces (11-7), but committed attacking 28 errors to Dickinson's 20, and an additional 12 serving miscues.
Four players: Lauren Ahern, Gillian Chan, Norma Jean Park and Emily Smith, paced Dickinson with seven kills each. Park also blocked four E-town attacks by herself, while Arielle Misrok had 20 digs and Jenn Morrissey 30 assists.
Elizabethtown looks to end its slide with pivotal conference matches Saturday in its second Landmark crossover. The Blue Jays will be at Moravian to face Scranton and Merchant Marine.
