Parr's Golden Goal Boosts Blue Jays to 2-1 Win

ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. – Ellen Parr scored with 27 seconds left in the first overtime period to give Elizabethtown College a 2-1 victory over Rutgers-Camden in non-conference women's soccer action at Ira R. Herr Field on Wednesday night.

Parr took a deflected crossing pass by Paige Minka and blasted the shot home to give the Blue Jays (1-1-0 overall) the victory in a game which they dominated statistically over the Scarlet Raptors (2-2-0 overall).

Rutgers-Camden took a 1-0 lead 5:44 into the game as Jessica Ramirez scored off a crossing pass by Jessica Leoni, and nursed the advantage deep into the second half despite being badly outshot by Elizabethtown. The Blue Jays finally tied the game with 18:04 to play as Parr found Kathryn Ritter, who fired home her first career goal to even the contest at 1-1.

For the game, the Blue Jays finished with margins of 25-2 in shots and 13-0 in corner kicks over the Scarlet Raptors.

Kristen Kelly played the final 54:33 in goal for the Blue Jays and made one save to pick up the win, after Jess Manchak started and played the first half. Vanessa Maia finished with six stops for the Scarlet Raptors, with Leoni adding two stops in 30 minutes of action.
