ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. – Allegheny College scored four goals in the final 33 minutes to defeat Elizabethtown College 4-0 in non-conference women's soccer action at Ira R. Herr Field on Saturday afternoon.
Becky Arndt started the onslaught for the Gators (2-0-0 overall) with a goal from 20 yards out with 32:28 left to break a 0-0 tie, and Abby Silvester, Molly Waggoner and Nicole Mascia added tallies to give Allegheny the victory.
After Arndt's goal, Silvester scored off a corner kick with 14:36 remaining to extend the Gator lead to 2-0. Waggoner added a penalty kick less than two minutes later to push the margin to 3-0, and Mascia scored with one second remaining to close the scoring.
Allegheny finished with a 15-10 advantage in shots over Elizabethtown (0-1-0 overall), including 8-4 in the second half, while the Blue Jays took four corner kicks to one by the Gators.
Emily Karr recorded her second shutout in as many games this season by making four saves for Allegheny.
Kristen Kelly played the first half in goal for Elizabethtown and made two stops, with
Jess Manchak finishing with one save in the second half.
