YORK, Pa. – Kat Torode scored two goals, including the game-winner with 10:34 remaining in the second half, as York College edged Elizabethtown College 2-1 in a non-conference women's soccer matchup on Wednesday afternoon.
Torode headed home a corner kick by Kaitlyn Harner to break a 1-1 tie and give the Spartans (7-1 overall) the victory over the Blue Jays (2-4 overall).
Elizabethtown took an early 1-0 lead as
Laura Wingert scored her first career goal at 12:17 off a through ball by
Kristin Eck, but Torode tied the contest just under five minutes later as she played a free kick by Steph Mergler and headed the ball home.
York held an 11-6 margin in shots, while both teams took six corner kicks.
Jess Manchak started in goal for Elizabethtown and made one first-half save, while
Kristen Kelly played the second half and made two stops. Sarah Spanarkel finished with two saves for York.
