  • Title
    Assistant Women's Lacrosse Coach
Linda Delaney enters her third season as an assistant coach with the Elizabethtown College women's lacrosse program in 2016.

Delaney and head coach Danielle Seling have worked tirelessly to move the program upwards after being tasked with a major reclamation project prior to the 2014 season. The Blue Jays showed a four-win improvement in 2015 and expect bigger and better things in 2016.

A two-time All-American in field hockey (2001 and 2002) at Lynchburg College, Delaney amassed 144 points on 55 goals and 34 assists during her career. She was also a three-time All-Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) honoree in women's lacrosse.

Delaney, who was inducted into the Lynchburg College Sports Hall of Fame in Oct. 2015, earned the LC Female Athlete of the Year award in 2002. In 2003, she was voted the department's Female Senior Athlete of the Year. Since graduating she's had a distinguished career coaching field hockey and women's lacrosse at Washington and Lee, field hockey at Randolph College and field hockey at Gwynedd Mercy.

Delaney has coached at every level of the two sports she excelled in as a Hornet. She served as an assistant coach with the varsity field hockey team at Hershey High School last fall and took on head coaching duties for the newly-founded lacrosse club, Central Pennsylvania Lacrosse (CPL) IMPACT.

Additionally, Delaney coaches for Lanco Elite Lacrosse Club, is a clinician coach at IM3 Lacrosse/Spooky Nook Lacrosse and provides individual instruction in field hockey and lacrosse. Delaney has channeled the time and energy she spent training as a collegiate student-athlete into helping other young women achieve their goals.

Prior to latching on at Elizabethtown, Delaney was the assistant field hockey coach at Gwynedd Mercy University, where the Griffins won a pair of Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) championships –the second and third in school history– and participated in the NCAA Division III tournament.

Delaney has also served as varsity field hockey coach at The Baldwin School, and the junior varsity coach at her alma mater, South River Senior High School, in 2003 and 2010. In 2009-10, Delaney assisted the Vice President for Intercollegiate Athletics at Limestone College and was a volunteer coach with the field hockey program.

Following a standout playing career at Lynchburg, Delaney stayed in the ODAC as her coaching career took off. Delaney was an assistant on the field hockey and women's lacrosse staffs, as well as a physical education instructor, at Washington and Lee University from 2004-06. The Generals won their first ever ODAC championship in field hockey in 2005 and advanced to the NCAA tourney. The institution was also chosen to host the Division III Final Four.

Delaney helped put the W&L field hockey team in the record books, as the 2005 team set new program standards for wins in a season, consecutive wins, goals, fewest goals allowed and shutouts.

The Generals' women's lacrosse team provided its share of excellence with Delaney on staff, hosting and winning an ODAC championship and a pair of regional games in the NCAA tournament. In 2005, W&L enjoyed its deepest run as a program, advancing all the way to the regional final (Elite Eight).

Delaney later spent three seasons as the head field hockey coach at Randolph College from 2006-08 and was a volunteer assistant women’s lacrosse coach at Lynchburg College in 2008.

Delaney has been a director, coach and volunteer at numerous camps/clinics throughout the country, including at the national level, where she volunteered with the IFWLA World Cup as a team host for New Zealand and Canada. Delaney also volunteered for the Rabobank Champions Challenge.

Adding to her well-rounded resume in field hockey, Delaney officiated at the scholastic level throughout Maryland, North Carolina and South Carolina.

In 2007, Delaney co-founded a coed adult field hockey club, Black Eyed Susan’s Field Hockey Association (BESFHA). As director, BESFHA has continually been successful winning tournaments throughout the Mid-Atlantic region.

Delaney received her bachelor of science degree with a major in environmental science from Lynchburg in 2003.

The former Linda Jack resides in Lancaster with husband Drew Delaney, the head men's lacrosse coach at Elizabethtown College.
