Making his season debut, junior heavyweight Jeremy Rieth won all three of his matches en route to winning his weight class at the MAC Championships Saturday.
Rieth, a Philadelphian, received the No. 1 seed and a first round bye before pinning Elijah Gresham of King's (Pa.) in 2:02 in the quarterfinals. In the semifinals, he used a takedown to defeat Charles Jones in overtime, 3-1. Rieth was 6-2 in matches that went to extra time in 2012-13.
Thirteen seconds before the third period buzzer of the championship bout, Rieth got No. 3 seed Zach Roseberry of Delaware Valley on his back and ripped off his second pin of the day for the 285 crown.
