Junior Tyler Simpkiss averaged 25.5 points per game over two Commonwealth Conference contests last week, paving the way to being named Men's Basketball Player of the Week by the league Monday afternoon. Simpkiss is the first Elizabethtown player to receive the weekly award in three seasons.

Simpkiss, a 6-foot-3 guard/forward, produced two of the finer games in his career as E-town upset Widener and fell to unbeaten Messiah in overtime.

Simpkiss drained 11 shots on 18 attempts, including three 3-pointers, to post a career-high 30 points in the Jays' 92-89 win over Widener Wednesday night. He was 5-of-7 from the foul line and grabbed five rebounds in the victory. Saturday, he had another strong performance with 21 points on 8-of-9 shooting (3-of-4 from three), three boards, an assist and a block in an overtime loss to Messiah.

On the week, Simpkiss averaged 25.5 points per game while shooting 70% from the floor and 54.5% from three. He also totaled 4.0 rebounds per game and 1.5 assists per game.
