Stefanie Cassel is in her first year as an assistant coach for the Elizabethtown College men's and women's cross country and track & field teams.
Cassel completed her Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science degree at Edinboro University (Pa.) and graduated in May 2021. She went on to attain her Master of Science in Physical Education-Exercise Science in May 2023.
Cassel was an accomplished runner at the Division II and Division I levels. At Edinboro, she was a five-time All-American in cross country and track & field. Cassel earned the distinction in XC plus twice in the mile, 3000 meters, and 1500m. She was a three-time USTFCCCA Atlantic Region Women's Athlete of the Year.
A 14-time conference champion between the PSAC and Mountain West, Cassel achieved All-America status at the University of New Mexico in cross country during her first season of competition with the Lobos. Cassel took 36th at the NCAA Div. I Cross Country Championships and New Mexico finished third overall. She was also a Second Team All-American in the 1500m at UNM.
A native of Acton, Ontario, Canada, she was the Head Middle School Track & Field Coach at nearby Lower Dauphin, where she worked with 7th and 8th grade students competing in the sprints, hurdles, and relays.
Cassel, now working as a personal trainer and running coach with Mary's Health and Fitness, will bring her expertise and experience to the Blue Jays' programs.
Cassel was a 2023 NCAA Woman of the Year nominee as well as a College Sports Communicators Academic All-American and 10-time USTFCCCA All-Academic Team selection.
