Kathy Staib had Elizabethtown clicking at the end of 2015 to conclude her 12th season as head coach.

The 2015 Blue Jays finished with a 6-6 record in league play and earned the No. 4 seed in the Landmark Conference Championship for the second time in as many seasons. E-town proved a much tougher out in their return trip to the championships, stunning the top two seeds on the opening day of play.

Staib's crew knocked off top seed Susquehanna, 3-1, behind a four-hitter from Keli Krause '16, and then held on to upset 24th-ranked Moravian, 7-6, and advance to the championship round. Though Moravian came back to twice defeat the Jays in the deciding round of the double-elimination tournament, Elizabethtown's conference runner-up finish was its first since 2008 and fourth overall.

Staib directed the Blue and Gray to the Landmark Conference Championship in 2014, its inaugural season as a member of the league after more than 30 seasons in the Middle Atlantic Conference/Commonwealth Conference.

In 2013, E-town recorded its second straight 20-win season, finishing with a 20-18 record. The Blue Jays are aiming for their fifth winning season in the past seven years in 2016 after finishing above .500 every season from 2010-13.

Elizabethtown closed the 2013 season with eight wins in its final 12 games, including a six-game winning streak that put the Blue Jays in the mix for a berth in the Commonwealth Conference Championships. Though they came up just shy of that berth, Staib has taken Elizabethtown to the postseason six times since 2007.

Staib mentored the program's first National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) All-America selection, infielder Elly McCarthy '13, along with 29 all-conference and 11 all-region players during her tenure with the Jays.

Under Staib's watch, McCarthy hit .440 (59-for-134) with 18 doubles, seven homers, 42 runs batted in, a .746 slugging percentage and .483 on base percentage in 2012. McCarthy brought home numerous postseason awards, including Commonwealth Conference Co-Player of the Year, NFCA All-East Region First Team (3B) and NFCA All-America Third Team (3B).

At the conclusion of 2007, a season in which the Blue Jays went 8-6 in conference play and tied for second in the regular season standings, Staib was honored by her peers as Commonwealth Conference Coach of the Year for the first time.

Staib has coached two of the Blue Jays' three four-time all-conference selections. She oversaw the entirety of outfielder Kelli Thon's career from 2004-07 and coached shortstop Emily Morris (2001-04) during Morris' senior season. McCarthy and Courtney Comstock '13 were three-time all-region picks under Staib's leadership.

Prior to taking over as head coach, Staib spent the 2002 and 2003 seasons as an assistant coach with the Blue Jays. Elizabethtown compiled 49 wins during that time and the 2002 team set the program record for victories in a season with 30.

Staib joined Elizabethtown College Athletics full-time in August, 2004, assuming the role of administrative assistant in addition to her coaching duties. In 2005, she was elevated to assistant athletic director. Staib was no stranger to the Elizabethtown community before joining the Blue Jays, however. She previously worked for the Greater Elizabethtown Area Recreation and Community Services (GEARS) as its Senior Program Coordinator.

Staib is the Women's Fastpitch District 2 Deputy Commissioner for the Amateur Softball Association (ASA). Staib previously held head coaching positions at the Conoy Athletic Association and Lancaster Country Day School. She also served as an assistant coach at both Donegal High School and Lancaster Country Day.

During her playing career, Staib competed in twelve Class "A" ASA National Tournaments. She played collegiately at Lock Haven University and scholastically for Bloomsburg Area High School.

A 1987 alumna of Lock Haven, Staib graduated with a bachelor’s degree in recreation with an option in leisure management. She went on to earn a master’s degree in sports management with a focus on intercollegiate athletic administration from California University of Pennsylvania in 2008.
