Michael Lesko was named Elizabethtown College's interim head men's and women's tennis coach, Aug. 18, 2016, after two years as an assistant.

Lesko spent the 2014-15 and 2015-16 seasons coaching under Matt Helsel, who took over as the head coach at Division II Millersville University in late July. He was part of back-to-back 16-win seasons on the women's side, with the team going 32-8 during that time frame.


"I am excited to have Michael lead our tennis programs," said Morgan. "He's been a tremendous asset to the student-athletes on our teams over the past two seasons, and I look forward to working with him as our new head coach."

The Blue Jay women have won the Landmark Conference championship and advanced to the NCAA Division III Tournament in each of Lesko's seasons with the program. This past spring, they knocked off Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) champion Penn State Behrend, 5-1, in the opening round of the national tournament, before falling to 13th-ranked Johns Hopkins in the second round.

On the men's side, E-town improved its win total while trying to build itself into a contender in the stout Landmark Conference.

Lesko, a 2014 graduate of Shepherd University, was a three-year captain with the Rams and received All-Mountain East Conference Second Team honors as a senior.

Lesko split time between No. 1 and No. 2 singles for the entirity of his career, while spending three seasons at No. 2 doubles and his senior season at No. 1. He won over 100 career matches while helping Shepherd to NCAA Division II tournament berths in 2012 and 2013.

Lesko has taught the game to players with diverse skill sets ranging from beginners through the collegiate level. He's also tutored players from ages 5-50 during his time instructing for Frederick County Parks & Recreation (2008-09), Tuscarora Tennis Barn (2008-09) and the Villages of Urbana (2008-14). Lesko was the tennis director at Lake Linganore from 2012-13.

Prior to attending Shepherd, Lesko won three Frederick County Public School singles championships while at Linganore High School. He was a two-time regional runner up and three-time state qualifier.

Lesko received Frederick News Post Player of the Year accolades from 2008-10 and was Gazzette Player of the Year in 2008 and 2010. He led the Lancers to three county championships, two region championships and a pair of Chesapeake Conference titles.


Lesko currently resides in Harrisburg.
